Visual Fugues
In 2015 I began an artistic study of the Euclidean concepts of translation, reflection, and rotation. Using a system of connecting circles placed at the edges of 2 or 4 equal sized canvases allows the pieces to be reconfigured, maintaining continuity from panel to panel. In the 4 panel pieces, elements of the 2x2 matrix can be switched left to right and top to bottom yielding 4 unique images. In the two panel pieces, 4 unique images can be made by rotating each panel in place. The geometry has been designed to recombine, often in surprising puzzle-like ways. Imagery of eyes, lips, faces, and heads, repeat in variations that chase each other around psychedelic landscapes, which I now call "Visual Fugues".

Website Notes
The Nearvana web layout tool was used to create the a series of different views of the same images/data. Using the previous/next buttons steps thru a series of re-interpretations of the layout. The interplay of web techniques and original images are meant to be playful and engaging. It was designed for a screen with a width of 1200 pixels.
